300 students, teachers and guests joined us for a morning filled with inspiration, powerful stories and great insights into the many ways sport and active recreation can shape your career, wellbeing, confidence and friendships.
One of the highlights was hearing from our incredible panel of speakers: Lauren Smith (Hobart Hurricanes and Tasmanian Tigers cricketer), Abby Geappen (Netball Tasmania WILD, Lutruwita/Tasmania U17 and U19 netballer), Kayla Steindl (Assistant General Manager, Tasmania Jewels and form WNBL and US College basketballer), and Roxy Perry (international rock climbing champion, coach and business owner of Rock It Climbing, Hobart). Their stories, honesty and advice were truly inspiring for everyone in the room.
We also heard from Emma Fry (St Lukes – Major Sponsor), Amanda Castray (University of Tasmania) and Alison Rogers (Rotary Club of Hobart). The morning featured an incredible Lucky Door Raffle with more than 40 prizes, plus over 70 basketballs given away, and every student received a lip balm and mini basketball from the Tasmania Jewels!
Importantly, this event was completely free for students and schools to attend, made possible thanks to the generous commitment of our sponsors who support greater opportunities for young Tasmanian women in sport and recreation.
A big thank you as well to the schools, students and teachers who joined us – with some travelling nearly two hours to be part of the morning. There were so many powerful messages shared, and we hope every student left with at least one spark of inspiration for their future. Women’s and girls’ sport in Tasmania is going from strength to strength, and we are proud to help bring these stories and opportunities to the next generation.
A very big thank yo to our sponsors who made this event possible.
