What happens in a GAP?
Most Get Active Programs run for ten weeks, with one session per week. Every session combines physical activity with a wellbeing topic, designed to support your everyday wellbeing.
Your GAP Facilitator will tailor the program to your group – including the physcial activity and the weekly wellbeing themes.
Topics you’ll learn about:
Getting started with movement: taking the first steps and finding what works for you
Setting goals you can actually reach: creating achievable, meaningful goals that stick
Nutrition and healthy eating (our only must-do session): simple, practical approaches to eating well
Boosting self-esteem: building confidence in yourself
Managing stress: practical tools for everyday life
Body comfort: feeling good in your own body
Being age positive: celebrating what your body can do at any age
Motivation: keeping going, even when things get tough
Maintaining momentum: how to continue results after the program

What happens after your GAP?
Our programs are deliberately designed to provide participants with activities and connections in their locdal area that can continue after the program is complete.
When participants finish their GAP they’ll have:
- new connections and friends
- local activities that they have experienced
- and practical tools to keep motivated and moving.
Many GAP participants continue to meet up regularly on an informal basis, or join other community activities together.
