Womensport & Recreation Tasmania NEWSLETTERS

Welcome to the first edition of our new Womensport & Recreation Tasmania News

Over the past few years we’ve seen a changing landscape and some monumental moments for women and girls in sport – both in Australia and globally. We’ve cheered loudly as the Matilda’s captivated us, our female Olympians shone on the global stage, our women’s teams secured World Cup titles in netball and cricket, our Tasmanian Tigers secured a third consecutive national title and we witnessed women reaching milestones in so many different sports.

There is so much excitement in female sport right now, however we know there is still much to be done to achieve our vision of women and girls’ participation and contribution being equally valued. At Womensport & Recreation Tasmania (WSRT) we feel it’s the ideal time to renew and strengthen our own connections, and this newsletter is a great starting point.

You’re receiving this as you have previously signed up for a WSRT Newsletter, via our website. It may have been some time ago, however we hope you’ll keep your connection with us open.

It’s our aim to have three to four eNewsletters each year, keeping you up-to-date and inspired. Additionally,

  • You can follow and communicate with us on Facebook and Instagram

  • Join us for occasional networking events and leadership forums, helping foster shared knowledge, support and motivation in our community of women leaders, and emerging leaders, in Tasmanian sport.

This newsletter will give you an insight into what’s been happening at WSRT recently, and what’s on our agenda. You can also check out our 2023-24 Annual Report and Strategic Plan 2023-26.

And if you’re part of a State or National Sporting Organisation please also take 10 minutes to complete the brief survey mentioned below.

Happy reading!

Jo and the team at WSRT

Stay connected with us through our newsletters; follow us on social media; and most importantly help spread the success stories of Tasmanian women and girls in sport and recreation…. from our most recent Olympians to primary school girls’ soccer teams, Tasmanian Tigers women’s cricket team to women starting their first yoga class, the new mums’ walking group to our all-female yachting crews, and everyone in between.

Together we can achieve incredible things and shape a Tasmania where women and girls can realise and exceed their potential in sport and active recreation.
